Kudos to the contingent of people who attended the USPTA Texas Division Conference and USTA Section Annual Meeting held in Grapevine, Texas February 12 through 14.
Susan Torrance received the USPTA Texas Facility Manager of the Year Award, Ronald Elizondo received the USTA Texas Community Service Award and Ben Eshleman received the W.T. Caswell Award for outstanding service as a volunteer for the USTA Texas Section.
Also in attendance were several Corpus Christi residents who serve on different committees at the section level.
1. Ben Eshleman, Immediate Past President of the USTA Texas Section serves on the Executive Committee, Management Committee, and is the Responsible Officer for the Communications, Multicultural, and Sports Science Committees as well as serving on the Texas Tennis & Education Foundation. He also serves as the USTA National Delegate for the Texas Section.
2. John Zimmerman, Past President of the USTA Section serves on the Executive Committee, the Awards, Leadership Development, Budget & Finance Committees.
3. Ron Woods, President of the CCTA serves on the Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and the Adult Leagues Committee
4. Tom Hunt, Vice President of the CCTA serves on the Executive Committee and is the chair of the Budget & Finance Committee.
5. Punam Kersten serves on the Executive Committee and is the Chair of the Multicultural Committee and serves on the Schools Committee.
6. Jacquelyn Robles serves on the Wheelchair Committee.
7. Sue Johnson Maurer serves on the Community Development Committee.
8. Dr. Fred Maurer serves on the Sports Science Committee.
9. Joyce Zimmerman serves on the Discipline & Grievance Committee.
10. Dr. Ralph Martin, serves on the Officials Committee.
11. Gerry Maingot serves on the Adult Leagues Committee and the Junior
Tennis Council.
12. Mary John Lynch serves on the Adult/Senior Council.
13.Tami Bruce-Romero is a member of the Schools Committee.
14/15. Charlie and Hilary Marold also serve on the Adult/Senior Council.
As one can see, the Corpus Christi Area is well represented at the USTA Texas Section level by many experienced and passionate individuals who love our sport. We are proud not only of our award winners, but all those who volunteer their time and efforts for our great game
