Executive Director

The Executive Director is a reliable, self-motivated and well-organized leader of the Corpus Christi Tennis Association (CCTA).  The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization, as well as ensuring the financial integrity of the CCTA and maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and statutes.  Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach.  The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.


A.  Partner with the Board

  1. Coordinate and attend all Board meetings and represent CCTA at other functions as requested.

  2. Maintain all records needed for compliance with laws and statutes, as well as certifications and registrations of the organization.  

  3. Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information needed by the Board to make informed decisions.

  4. Assist in the succession of board members yearly and support the new board orientation.

  5. Maintain all official correspondence for the organization and ensure it is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  6. Support the work of the committees as requested.

  7. Maintain a close working relationship with the staff of USTA Texas and attend meetings as deemed necessary by the Board, including but not limited to, webinars, quarterly calls, etc. presented by USTA Texas.  Communicate information back to the board in a timely manner.

  8. Be aware of community issues that may have an impact on the CCTA and communicate that information to the Board.


B.  Records Management of the Association

  1. Work with the Finance committee to prepare a yearly budget and ensure that the budget is followed.

  2. Keep accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring the financial integrity of the CCTA.

  3. Generate financial reports as requested by the Board for each Board meeting.

  4. Acquire and maintain all contracts as needed for the organization.

  5. Oversee all grant applications and assist in their preparation.

  6. Maintain all records required for employees and volunteers of the organization.

C.  Supervision of staff, volunteers and programs

  1. Be responsible for the hiring, management, evaluation and if necessary disciplinary action of all employees and contractors to ensure that desired goal are met while maintaining communication with the Board before taking any action.  

  2. Recruit volunteers as needed for programs and ensure volunteers are properly trained and oriented to and recognized by the organization.  

  3. Oversee all programs approved by the Board including tournaments, leagues, junior programs, scholarships, etc so that all programs are carried out in an effective, professional manner.

D.  Marketing and Community Outreach

  1. Serve as the CCTA’s primary spokesperson to community leaders, community partners and the organization’s members.

  2. Establish and maintain good working relationships with local school districts, the city leaders and departments, including but not limited to the City Council, Parks and Recreation and the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

  3. Effectively promote the CCTA programs and mission throughout the CCTA service area through print and electronic media.

  4. Oversees the distribution of marketing materials, including, but not limited to, the CCTA website, Facebook and other social media and the electronic newsletter.

  5. Coordinate all fundraising efforts and events.  

Job Requirements

  1. A bachelor’s degree or 5 years relevant recent work experience (nonprofit preferred)

  2. Strong written and oral communication skills

  3. Understanding of QuickBooks, accounting and payroll practices

  4. Ability to use web and mobile based technology

  5. Self-motivation and strong initiative to create and expand job role

  6. Excellent organization skills

  7. Willingness and ability to represent the CCTA well in the community

  8. Ability to work well with staff and volunteers

  9. Tennis knowledge/experience preferred

Work Schedule and Compensation

This is a part-time position averaging 25 hours per week (flexible 4-5 days in the office). Salary for the position is negotiable and commensurate with experience. This is a contract position, and no benefits or paid leave shall apply. CCTA is an equal opportunity employer.
